Perform Halfway Across the World!
The American High School Theatre Festival (AHSTF) is a comprehensive experience that brings ambitious and deserving high school performing arts programs to perform at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (the Fringe). Each program that joins AHSTF at the Fringe is assigned a venue, four performance dates, a technical rehearsal, a dedicated tech team, advertising and marketing support, plus logistic, travel, and operational support for the duration of the program. All participants will have plenty of time to explore Scotland and experience the Fringe on their own, in addition to time in York, Stratford -Upon- Avon, London and the West End upon arrival to the UK. Brio is proud to announce that we have been selected as the youngest group to travel with AHSTF in the history of their programming. Students traveling with Brio will be allowed to travel as young as 10 years old through high school.
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe regularly counts over one million visitors to the most prestigious – and prodigious – arts festival in the world. Every August, Scotland’s majestic capital, Edinburgh, is transformed into a magical, unpredictable, thrilling world of all things performance – comedy, drama, dance, cabaret, revivals, and anything else you can imagine. In addition to the “official” stages and theatres, the pubs, museums, hotels, sidewalks, alleyways, and courtyards also turn into venues. The Fringe seemingly has no walls, entirely by design. The spectacle is the talk of the town for weeks on end. Performers at the Fringe get noticed, and productions get noticed, too. Audiences are quick to share their reactions to what they’ve seen with friends and strangers alike. Imagine an entire city swept away by the pulse of so much creativity, and you’ve only started to understand what’s happening here.

Meet Friend! A Lovable creature just waiting for the chance to be someone’s everlasting friend. But things get in our little friends way. And instead of waiting, Friend does…. the UNIMAGINABLE.

Central Hall | Edinburgh
Our students will be performing at the beautiful Central Hall in Edinburgh.
Situated in the heart of Scotland’s innovative and award winning capital city, Central Hall blends into the famous Tollcross high street yet stands out as a fine piece of architecture built by the Methodist Church back in 1901.
Central Hall has been used by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Royal Shakespeare Company, Welsh National Opera and National Association of Youth Orchestras and now Brio Studio!

Johnny Rodgers

JOHNNY RODGERS is an internationally celebrated singer-songwriter, pianist, Broadway veteran, and recording artist who is described by Stephen Holden, from The New York Times, as an entertainer “who has show business in his bones” with “fused elements of Billy Joel, Peter Allen and Johnny Mercer.”
As an Ambassador of American Music, Johnny Rodgers dazzles audiences with this Americana mélange of original songs and classic favorites. He tours for the State Department to places such as the Middle East, North Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific Islands. Johnny has toured Russia and performed with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra, with Igor Butman and his Jazz Orchestra as well as for the US Embassy Independence Day Celebration and Grodno Jazz Festival in Minsk, Belarus.
Rodgers doubled as Music Director and piano man for Liza Minnelli performances/tours and starred in and wrote the song, “I Would Never Leave You” for Liza’s Tony Award®-winning Liza’s At The Palace, which was filmed and released by PBS television. Johnny has earned New York’s Nightlife, Bistro and MAC awards for his performances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Jazz At Lincoln Center, Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel, Feinstein’s at Loews Regency, and other premiere clubs. His songwriting has been recognized with Billboard and ASCAP Foundation awards.

MELINDA SWAIN PETERSON's love for arts and crafts, bloomed with her mother's help. From concept to construction, budget and refurbishment, she learned as they created many projects together, big and small. When she, herself, became a mother to 5 amazing kids she found many outlets to express her creative talents and do what she loves. Melinda has over 30 years experience with creating sets, props, themes, games, gifts and costumes for classrooms and parties, groups, fundraisers, weddings, contests, plays, musicals, and more...and now Puppets for Brio's Unimaginable for The International Fringe Festival!!
